“I am interested in exploring the many ways our body interacts with space and how space in turn affects our experiences. In my practice, this has resulted in a multi-disciplinary approach with a focus mainly on the atmosphere generated.” Anita Nevens {1968}
Born in Belgium and currently based near Brussels, Anita lived in Singapore from 2006 – 2013 where she exhibited widely and was teaching Interior Design at the LASALLE College of the Arts and Raffles
Design Institute. The experience of living in S.E. Asia generally has influenced her work significantly. She studied at Luca School of Arts in Brussels, Belgium where she now is a lecturer. Her conceptual approach and multi-disciplinary work, spanning furniture, architectural and interior design, ceramics, sculpture, poetry and many more, is often manifested in the form of a ‘gesamtkunstwerk’, a work uniting all arts, like ‘My Universal Home’ which was exhibited at the Old Supreme Court during the 2007 Design Festival, Singapore. This fall, some of her furniture will be included in the exhibition ‘A chair and you ‘ at the Museum of Contemporary Design and applied Arts, Lausanne, Switzerland, with a scenography by the famous American director Robert Wilson.
